An Exclusive Feel

Promoveo was contacted by a German prefabricated house manufacturer back in 2009 with the following request “how to use technology to give our houses a more exclusive feel combined with ecofriendly living without having a luxury housing budget to spend?”

Customer feedback and analysis told us:

• Customers’ wish lists are as varied as their preferences when it comes to furniture, fabrics and colours.

• Customers understand the benefits technology can provide them but not necessarily the technology itself – you can appreciate automatic transmission and a parking assistant without having a
  desire to know how it works.

• Customers’ needs might change - therefore they want flexibility

To keep costs down it was crucial that the time spent by the system integrator on actual configuration was kept to a minimum but still with a visualisation where we achieved simplicity and a design by designers where no user manual is required for the end user.

By developing a packaged offering containing Eco, Comfort, Security, and Multiroom audio packages we offered benefits and much desired flexibility. The show house in Berlin now demonstrates the packaged options controlled via the Promoveo platform and includes automated blinds, window and door sensors, presence detectors, lighting control, weather station, cameras, multiroom audio, solar panels and smart meters for water, solar and electricity. We found that success comes with communicating the benefits integrated technology has to offer, combined with simplicity and good design.
