EC FP7

FP7 is the short name for the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. This is the EU's main instrument for funding research in Europe and it will run from 2007 to 2013. The EC budget for the next seven years is € 50.5 billion FP7 is also designed to respond to Europe’s employment needs and competitiveness. FP7 supports research in selected priority areas - the aim being to make, or keep, the EU as a world leader in those sectors.

The PROMOVEO project (full project title “Independent living for today's society: understanding the elderly and disabled for tomorrows inclusive smart home solution”) has a budget of €955,000 over two years.

Pera (UK)

Pera (established in 1946) is a “not for profit” organisation and is one of Europe’s leading international providers of innovation support to industry. It is a state of the art R&D organisation which employs more than 500 project managers, business analysts, engineers, designers and technologists. Pera helps firms to develop innovative new products and with its global network of strategic partners and staff, Pera has access to the latest thinking from around the globe. Through this network Pera can provide access to over 25,000 engineers with world-class expertise in every discipline imaginable. Intelligent Systems Research Institute (ISRI) which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pera Innovation Ltd, is the main research partner for Promoveo in this project.

Tomas Bata University (Czech Republic)

Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU) is a top-rated educational and research institution with more than 11,000 students. The university currently doubled its R&D spent and is forming new alliances with the Czech and European Industries.

TBU in Zlín comprises five faculties today: Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Management and Economics, Faculty of Multimedia Communications, Faculty of Applied Informatics and Faculty of Humanities. Research activities at the Faculty of Applied Informatics are focused on the modern methods of automatic control theory, technological processes monitoring and control, measurement technology, artificial intelligence methods, information technologies, software engineering, mathematical modelling of technological processes with respect to their automatic control, and last but not least, research solutions for the automatic control of combined heat and power production.

iKnowHow (Greece)

iKnowHow was originally founded in 2002 and has its head office in Athens, Greece. The company has extensive knowledge about wireless technologies within its R&D organisation.

The company has acquired a significant technological know-how and expertise through its participation in R&D projects at an European Level, through the Framework Programmes (FP6, FP7, Article 6, e-Content Plus, CIP), and at National level, through projects funded by Ministry of Education.

Navtel Systems (France)

Navtel Systems was founded in 1994 and is an awarded hardware design company. The products portfolio covers a wide range of products, services and system level solutions from the R&D phase to the product level which includes algorithms, hardware prototypes, software and simulation packages.
