“Keep taking the tablets? A time of big news in the world of controllers and touch-screens” EI assesses the current landscape and where the sector is headed next.”

“A name perhaps less well known in the sector is Promoveo which provides a complete home automation system over touch-panel control. Company MD Paal Bekkeheien tells EI: “The Promoveo solution for energy management and building automation has been designed from the outset to be elegant, intuitive and simple to use.
“The touch interface gives rich visual feedback of the current status of devices within the home and is designed to be learnt quickly and become reassuringly familiar.”
Paal adds:
“The user interface has been designed from first principles to be intuitive, simple and visually appealing. It features a consistent approach to navigation and screen placement with an approach that requires no more than three ‘clicks’ to achieve instant control over devices. “The User Interface requires practically no learning by the end user as each action is visually signposted by a clever combination of text and graphics. The interface scales across the range of screens from portable devices to in-wall panels such that the user can comfortably switch between different screens.” The Promoveo solution interfaces with and controls over KNX and can be added to a new KNX project or can retro-fitted into an existing system. The user controls the platform through dedicated in-wall touch-panels, portable wireless devices or third party smartphones/tablets.
Paal says: “The Promoveo client software can be installed on practically any touch-screen device. The user interface automatically adjusts to each device, giving a consistent experience every time. The Promoveo approach is to run on all devices and let the customer choose which one he or she wants to use.”
